Youth 150 for 150 Challenge
What is the CANADA 150 FOR 150 VOLUNTEER CHALLENGE?
Canada is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017 – an opportunity to profile what is unique and good about our country. Volunteerism is at the heart of healthy and vibrant communities – Canada’s 150th Anniversary is an opportunity to focus on the importance of volunteering and giving back to this great country.
The Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge is a nation-wide campaign supported by the Information & Volunteer Centre for Strathcona County in partnership with Volunteer Ottawa, Volunteer Canada and other Volunteer Centres across the country. The goal is to have Canadians give 150 hours of volunteer time in 2017 in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. The Challenge will include a special focus on New Canadians, Aboriginals, seniors and youth.
How can your school get involved?
IVC is providing all schools a platform to share their stories of reaching and surpassing 150 hours of volunteerism. Each school has the option of creating their own personalized video, PowerPoint, poem, son
g, written story, digital scrapbook etc…. Schools are asked to submit any of the suggested projects or another idea to IVC as long as your school has reached a total of 150 volunteer hours.
Once all submissions are received by December 1, 2017, IVC will post and share your achievements on our website for a full year in addition to all of our social media platforms. This is a great opportunity to hi-light your schools community service while promoting and encouraging students and staff to take pride in and share the good work being done by your school.
Contact Le-Ann Ewaskiw at firstname.lastname@example.org for a more in depth description of this exciting opportunity to hi-light your school.
