Worthwhile Resources for Boards of Directors

There are so many resources out there that deal with Board of Directors. This page has information and links to some of the ones that we think are outstanding. Read an article or check out a website!

Board Development Program – Government of Alberta

This is a provincial program we think does outstanding work all over the province! The staff and volunteers will work with any Board of Directors on assisting them to make their organization better through best Board Practices. It achieves this through workshop design and delivery, resource development, consultations, partnerships and peer-to-peer relationships.

One new initiative is The Board Development Program, in partnership with Alberta Library Trustees Association, has developed an online learning module to help new board members and library trustees (and those looking for a refresher) to strengthen their governance skills. You can listen to podcasts that talk about all the issues of governance.

RCVO – Resource Centre for Voluntary Organizations

The RCVO is the information destination for Alberta’s nonprofit sector. Since 1987, thousands of individuals and nonprofit organizations have come to RCVO for information, support, advice and tools to better meet the challenges they face.

Unique to Alberta, the RCVO provides information and resources related to: nonprofit organization management, voluntary sector leadership, fund development, volunteer program management, board leadership and governance and voluntary sector issues.
