WHAT ARE OUR VOLUNTEER POSITIONS?

Information Festival Desk:

Volunteer at the Festival Information Desks located throughout the Festival. Some of the activities you will look after will be to answer patron questions, hand out childrens craft tickets, be the volunteer centre, sell tickets for our SPECIAL raffle and so much more. This will be the heart of the Festival. Each Festival Desk will have two volunteers at it…so volunteer with a friend!

Silent Auction Centre:

Take registrations for those participating in the Silent Auction. You will know everything there is to know about the Silent Auction by the end of your shift. The Silent Auction Centre is located in the hub of the Festival of Trees so it WILL be exciting!

Trees Host:

Be a Festival Ambassador by being the person who cares for the Trees at the Festival! Assist with the security of the decorated trees and display areas and answer questions from the public about the trees and displays.

Crafts Area Volunteers:

We have many crafts projects for children to take part in, so LOTS of volunteers who enjoy children and crafts are needed. We also will have Cookie Decorating area and a Tattoo Table for all the kids. If you enjoy kids of all ages, this may be the volunteer position for you!

Entertainment Hosts:

Stage: The Entertainment Section will need a bevy of volunteers to help with the Entertainment Stage. You will be helping performers as they arrive and making sure they have everything they need. You might also be ensuring they get to the stage on time and then help them all as they leave the stage.

Roving Entertainers: Be the assistant for the Roving Entertainers, Mascots and Face Painters that will be entertaining at the Festival. Help the Sugarplum Fairy spread her magic, show the mascots to the changing areas, ensure the clowns and magicians have what they need…these are just some of the activities you will be kept busy with!

Set Up & Take Down Festival Volunteers:

Be an integral volunteer at the beginning and the end of the Festival of Trees! You must be physically capable of lifting trees, tables, etc. Hopefully you will be easy going, fun loving, results orientated, excited and ready to work! It will be a late night for Set Up and may take until midnight so it would help if you are a night person.

Set Up: We need 5 volunteers to start at 7:30pm on Thursday evening. You would start by laying out the pallets, etc. for the trees to be positioned on. Then you will take care of setting up some of the areas throughout the mall (crafts, entertainment stage, volunteer area, etc.) along with setting up the additional decor.

Then we need 20 volunteers to start at 8:30 Thursday evening to unload and set up the trees for the Festival once the mall closes at 9:00.

Take Down: We need 15 people – 10 to work in teams of two (so five teams) to package up the trees and load them for customers and an additional five to assist with the take down of the other areas. These people will start once the Silent Auction of Trees are finished and the winners have been called.
