Are we really going to blog?
May 1, 2009
So what business does the Information and Volunteer Centre have blogging? It seems everyone is doing it these days. Why add to the clutter and noise of cyberspace? Well let me tell you, there aren’t very many non-profits out there blogging. Which means very little of that clutter and noise has a non-profit slant to it.
Don’t worry, we’re not going to blog about what we had for supper last night or where we’re itchiest. (We’ll save that for our Twitter feed… kidding.) We won’t bore you with the details of what a self-important economist said about futures in real estate. Or what a well-learned researcher published about the health benefits of painting your toenails with your left hand instead of your right.
What we’re going to blog about is community and volunteerism – stuff we know pretty well. We’re going to blog about interesting stuff we find or hear. We’re going to make this a place that will help you stay connected with the grassroots of Strathcona County.
Ok, we might blog about recent developments in provincial or federal legislation that affects the voluntary sector. Or if the County comes up with a great idea, we’ll be quick to hand out a pat on the back. We might even drum up a guest blogger or two. You never know who we might find…
We hope, at very least, you’ll bookmark our site and come back to visit from time to time. Heck, go ahead and subscribe to our news feeds. Or be bold and make our site your home page. We’d be ever so flattered.
But rest assured, we’ll do our darnedest to make you think and maybe even inspire you to act. If we can do that with just one person, mission accomplished. Oh and feel free let us know how we’re doing.
We really look forward to connecting with you. Come back and visit soon!
