Did you know.....
July 31, 2009
There is a very large percentage of youth in Strathcona County who make it a point to partake in several volunteer opportunities regularly. For example, Our youth program runs an on-going project called the youth page. This page is dedicated to writing stories about youth volunteering in our community.
The stories are written by youth who range from 10 to 18 yrs old. The stories are selected and researched by these youth and then the Sherwood Park-Strathcona County News has graciously provides a full page in the paper every month in support of spreading the good work youth do.
This committee of youth are always looking for new members to join and new stories to write about. So… if your interested in getting involved or you know of some youth be it yourself or friends who are doing some good in our community blog us back so we can get the word out. The committee generally communicates through the use of email. Let’s face it, transportation and time will always be an issue for youth and this method seems to work well.
The youth program is also recruiting youth to participate with our on-line blogging, facebook and twitter. It’s pretty new to me and I need help. Actually, not only do I need help but I need your advice and enthusiasm. If your looking for a volunteer opportunity and have a knack for the internet, email me, I’d love to hear from you.
