Way to Go!
July 22, 2009
I just wanted to say a “BIG” warm and fuzzy thank you to all of the youth who volunteered their time to be involved in the Canada Day Strathcona County Parade. Your time and effort is so greatly appreciated by all of the community residents. The abundance of energy that was shown along with your bright smiling faces was PRICELESS and quite frankly addictive. Who said volunteering wasn’t fun?
A lot of people both young and old are under the impression that youth volunteering can be a difficult thing to come by. My comments on that are to the contrary. As long as you have the desire to be a volunteer, opportunities will present themselves. It is said that a good volunteer is one who recognizes a need and does something about it. If you find that you require some assistance and guidance there are several places like the Information and Volunteer Centre’s Youth Volunteer Program to help you source out an opportunity. It only takes an inquiry to get started.
So tell me, who would you like to “pat on the back” for being a youth volunteer? Inspire the community with your stories and help create a youth volunteer movement. Your comments may be just what another youth needs to hear in order to get the ball rolling.
