Can't find a volunteer opportunity? Make your own! It's easy! Here are a few ideas to get you going.

AT HOME

Help clear the table.
Shovel snow.
Help with the laundry.
Do the dishes.
Cleanup your local park.
Create a seasonal drawing or display for a senior centre.
Babysit.
Help younger brothers or sisters with homework.
Do the vacuuming.
Set up a recycling system for your home.
Take care of your pets.
Teach a senior friend how to use a computer or the Internet.
Write your "grandfriend" a letter.
Help other family members, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.

AT SCHOOL

Participate in a recycling system for your school.
Organize a toy drive for your local hospital.
Make school supply kits for children in need.
Teach computer skills.
Organize a food, blanket or clothing drive.
Gather oral histories and donate the booklet to your library.
Coach intra-murals at your school.
Tutor or mentor younger students.
Create a seasonal display for a senior centre.
Organize “don't drink and drive” campaigns.
Work to resolve conflict between students.
Adopt-a- ____- be responsible for the clean-up of a local park, trail-way, beach.
Be a friend to new students at your school.
Help in younger classes.
Organize a fundraising event for charity.
Encourage school spirit through monthly activities.
Become a student representative on your student council.
Be a journalist for your school newspaper or newsletter.
Make care packages with mittens, socks, t-shirts, etc.
Write letters for an elderly person.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Help cook and/or serve a meal at a shelter.
Sort and pack food to the Food Bank.
Go for a walk with a senior citizen in your community.
Help sort or wrap for your local Christmas Bureau.
Plan and organize a water quality or environmental awareness project.
Assist a coach in a younger division of the sport you play.
Host a dance for your local nursing home.
Plant and maintain a garden for community pleasure or for donation to a food bank.
Read books or the newspaper on tape for visually impaired people.
Volunteer at an event in your community.
Plant a tree where the whole neighborhood can enjoy it.
Create a campaign to encourage biking and walking.
Clean up trash along a river or in a park.
Serve on a non-profit board that affects youth issues.
Help with repairs at a shelter.
